James
5:7:
“Be patient, then,
brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the
land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring
rains.”
Patience is a virtue that is
largely unknown to the world and not much practiced by contemporary Christians.
We know what we want and we want it now! It is difficult for our Lord to work
with impatient people. He wants to see people whose character has been tested and
refined upon in difficult times. You cannot grow patience when everything is
ok. It is easy to be patient then. But when troubles come and they do not end
in one day, it is time to grow this fruit of the spirit. It often seems that
God is being late to deliver us from our problems, trials and tests. No, He is
not. He wants us to change in the process and the final result of that is that
we learn to be patient. Praise Him for your troubles. Those are priceless opportunities
for you to learn to be patient.
