Assurance of salvation

"I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life" 1 John 5:13

There is a floating opinion in a lot of Christian circles that you can never be sure if you are saved, and you will probably never be. They believe this kind of attitude helps you to stay humble and God even likes this kind of attitude. A lot of Christians believe that they can easily lose salvation that Christ has given them. Very often, when they sin, they lose confidence in God and their assurance of salvation. The assurance that all sins: present, past, and future are forgiven is somehow forgotten. We should never forget that His blood cleanses from all unrighteousness 24/7.

Furthermore, the apostle John states here very clearly that he writes so we may have assurance of eternal life. Christ has already paid for it, and nobody can take it away from you. If you were born again, Jesus is in you and you are in Jesus and nobody will take you away from Him. There cannot be an accidental loss of eternal life. You have to deliberately denounce Jesus as you Savior in order for that to happen. But who would want to do that? Jesus is our eternal hope, He loves us. He is the best person that has ever lived. He gave His life for us. Your salvation has been paid for. Nobody can take it away. Let's give Him thanks for that and walk in confidence daily that we are saved by the precious blood of Christ.

God is for you who can be against you

"If God is for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31.

We Christians often have a wrong image of God. Due to sin, weakness, addictions we often feel unworthy of God's love and sometimes may even start thinking that God is against us. That is absolutely wrong. If you gave your life to Christ, God is for you. Only you and Satan can be against you. He forgave your sins and forgot them. You might still remember them, but He doesn't. Jesus took all of the wrath for your and my sins upon himself. Praise God. Next time, when Satan reminds you of your sins, tell him that God does not remember them. You might also remind him (Satan) of his future. God is not against you, He is for you. But He is against Satan. The fella is your real enemy. Do not listen to his voice. Read the word of God daily, soak in His love and always remember that He is on your side. Amen.

The magnitude of Jesus' forgiveness

34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doingLuke 23:34

These words came out of Jesus lips right before his death. He was persecuted, slandered, arrested, beaten, spat on, hung on the cross, ridiculed on the cross, and after all these things He asked God to forgive those evil people their sins. WOW! Can there be greater forgiveness than that? Nope. God Himself was humiliated, beaten and rejected. Yet, He decided to forgive. Amazing love!

We all are sinners. We do not deserve forgiveness. But He gave it to us all for free. He does not hold a grudge against us. He forgave. He does not remember your sins anymore. His love for you is everlasting. Accept His forgiveness. Embrace His love. God is good for you. Your sins are forgiven. Your Savior died for you on the cross. Receive His forgiveness and be free from your sins.
