Joy of the Lord

Psalm 4:7: “Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound.”

Joy is a thing that most people are after. However, they search for it using a lot of means. Most associate joy with financial security that is when they have enough money, food and a lot of material positions. Unfortunately, not many people who possess those look joyful and happy. Why? Because these things provide some sort of security, but not joy. Joy comes when you have the right attitude. When you know that your God is for you, you will hardly ever be sad.

That is a difference between those who are believers and who aren’t. A believer can rejoice any time even if he is under difficult financial or other circumstances. Believers have a stable foundation under their feet. If they lost something material they haven’t lost the most important thing. Their salvation and their God as their shelter is that what matters most for them. Those who build their trust in financial stability having lost material things they lose everything. They lose their foundation and their joy as a consequence.

So, if you feel you have lost your joy think what your foundation is. If it is in the Lord you have no reason to be sad. If you started putting too much trust in material things there is no wonder that you have lost your joy. When God is in the first place, all other things are in their proper places. So, put God first.
