Those who fear him lack nothing

Psalm 34:9-10: “Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Interesting way to solve the problem of lack? I admit that it sometimes seems weird for me too. Nevertheless, if we seek His face we acknowledge that we need His help and He does help those who seek Him and trust Him. Lack nothing encompasses all areas of life: spirit, soul and body. Jesus talked about it a lot in the gospels. He promised total provision of the Lord if we only trust Him.

Human strength

Psalm 33:16-17: “No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.

Human strength is rather limited. And it can achieve great things only because we are created in the image of God and have a breath of God inside us. However, if we forget and neglect our creator and think that we can do on our own and we are great of ourselves we do stumble. It is possible that at the end of the road we will not even have time to stop, think and repent of our wicked ways. Let us humble ourselves and give all glory to the One who made us and shaped us and imparted his life inside of us.

Woes of the wicked

Psalm 32:10: “Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.

Everyone suffers in this life. However, sufferings of the righteous and the sufferings of the wicked are very different. The former has hope in his sufferings and the latter has nothing to rely on. The wicked neither believes the love of God exists, nor experiences it. The righteous one may undergo terrible times and feel terribly, but he knows that God loves him and never leaves him. So, his sufferings are relieved and he always has a hope for a better future.

My times are in your hand

Psalm 31:15: “My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me.

We undergo various times in our lives. We were born, started going to school, university, got a job, got married, had children, grandchildren and etc. Maybe not everyone experienced or will experience these things, but some of them we all do. One day the time will come for us to leave this earth. God knows the time. We don’t! That is a little bit scary, but we should not be scared. We should think how to use our time in a way that God likes. If you do not know what He likes take time to find out by reading His word and praying to Him. He will show you.

His favor lasts forever

Psalm 30:5: “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

There is anger of God that comes as a punishment for sin. However, the Bible has some good news for us. His anger is very short. The word of God has even more good news and that is: Jesus took God’s wrath upon himself. So, if you sinned yesterday and repented of your sin you can be sure that you can rejoice with a guilt free heart today. Thank Him for his everlasting mercy.
