Justified by faith

Romans 4:5: “However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.

After the fall of man into sin humans have been in serious trouble. They wanted to know how to be righteous in the eyes of God. They wanted to know what they had to do in order to be justified. Today people are worried by the same question. What works do we have to do? People feel that something is wrong with them and they want to repair that. They want to get rid of guilt.

Unfortunately, people often forget that they deal with a perfect and holy God who does not tolerate any sin. You cannot cover up or erase your sins by doing good works. This does not make you right in the right of God. It might make you righteous in your own eyes, but not God’s eyes. If you really want to be justified you have to do it God’s way, not by following your sinful understanding.

The word of God says that the only way for you to be justified is by having faith in the sacrifice of Jesus. It means all of your merits are gone. They do not work. The only merit that is actual now is the merit of the cross of Calvary. That’s it! No more works, efforts, sweating and trying to please God. The word of God is very clear on the matter. Believe and you will be saved.
