Daily Bible verse of the day

Hi, today I want to continue my short Bible commentaries from the book of Genesis. Let us go back to Joseph story in the house of Potiphar. The passage is from Genesis 39: 19-20:” When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, “This is how your slave treated me,” he burned with anger. Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined.

It looked like the situation turned around and God interfered with the injustice that Joseph experienced, but here the problem comes again in the form of Potiphar’s wife. She wanted to have intimacy with him. Joseph did what was right and refused to give in to her seduction. Read the whole chapter to see the full situation. Finally, Potiphar’s wife accuses Joseph of the very act she wanted to perform. And her husband believes her.

Do not be surprised to see when the wicked triumph and the righteous suffer. It has been happening from the time Adam and Eve sinned. For a season it may seem that injustice triumphs over righteousness. But only for a season! God never loses war. He may seem to lose a few battles, but He does it on purpose. We can’t see the full picture all the time and this confuses us.

If you have been doing the right thing and one day see yourself in a similar situation like Joseph did, do not panic nor be afraid. You are not alone. Jesus experienced the same thing. Joseph too! So did Asaph and many others and anybody who decides to live righteously will experience that. Jesus told us about it. But we are also promised that the righteous will overcome in the end and the wicked will get what they deserve.

So, let us not give in to despair when we experience bad things and injustice towards ourselves. Let us trust God that He sees everything and is in full control of what happens.

God bless you.
