The Lord is my shepherd

"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing" Psalms 23:1.

Last week I discussed one of the names of God that Jesus revealed to us. That was the Father or Daddy God. Today, we can briefly look at what it means to have God as our shepherd. If you read the whole psalm 23 on your own you will find many benefits that you have when you have God as your shepherd.

Firstly, it is provision for you (body, soul, and spirit). Verse 1.
Secondly, it is guidance. Verse 2.
Thirdly, it is strengthening. Verse 3.
Fourthly, it is protection and comfort during difficult times. Verse 4.
Fifthly, it is victory over enemies and abundance. Verse 5.
Sixth, it is loving care for you through your entire life. Verse 6.

There could be more, but have these ones in mind when your read and meditate on the Psalm in good times and bad. Let it sink in your mind deeply. You can rightly expect all of the above mentioned things when you let God to be your shepherd. Jesus referred to Himself as a good shepherd too. So, the name was used to refer to God in both Old and New Testaments.
